I flew out on my birthday, last Wednesday, and we had a brief layover in Chicago. So, of course, I had to visit with the Blues Brothers! Too funny!
On Thursday morning we jumped on a bus (the trip was about two hours) and headed for Kenab, Utah to visit the facility where Stampin' Up! produces all of their fabulous stamps!!! The production staff was outside waiting for us as we got off of the bus ~ a very nice welcome!!!! I couldn't take any pictures inside the facility but I can give you some facts about the production of our stamps and show you a peak into the pretty apartment that Shelli and her family have on the second floor of the facility.
First, some interesting facts:
- At current production they can produce 16 to 22,000 stamp sets per day.
- Sheets of stamps are die cut about every 8 seconds.
- The packagers handle about 60,000,000 pieces per year.
- Waste rubber is ground into mulch for use by charitable organizations (for example, SU has built a park locally for children and the ground under the playground equipment is all rubber stamp pieces!)
- 81% of the production staff have been in their jobs 5 years or more.
- Of that 81%, 43% have been there 10 years or more.
This picture shows our welcoming committee! The other pictures are of Shelli's apartment ~ the living room w toys, the guest bedroom (wouldn't you love to stay there?), the den and laundry room. Shelli is always so welcoming and it is a treat to have your picture taken with her!!! I feel so fortunate!
