Colorado River

Boat tour 2
The day was gorgeous ~ not too hot and how too cold, the scenery was magnificant!  The water was cold, approximately 45 degrees year round, with the average depth 32 feet.  It took Congress 42 years to finally decide when and where to build the dam after exploration by John Wesley Powell in 1869.  This is a primier location for eagles, osprey and trout fishing.  It was so peaceful with just a little motor on the pontoon boat and lots of floating.

Boat tour 7Brad grew up on the river and made money catching Navaho ponies so that they could be branded when he was in high school.  He was an excellent guide ~ in this picture the boat is floating and he is playing the guitar ~ a little James Taylor.  It took three hours to go 16 miles down the river.  Tomorrow petroglyphs!
