A Visit from Flat Stanley

DSC_0033      Have you heard the story about Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown?  Probably not, unless you have children or grandchildren in elementary school.  The story goes like this ~ One morning the Lambchop family awoke to find their son, Stanley, had been smashed flat by an enormous bulletin board in his room.  The doctor said that Stanley was fine ~ just flat.  When he got used to being flat, Stanley liked it because he could do lots of things ~ like going in and out of rooms with the door shut.  He could retrieve things that others could not reach.  He could even be folded and placed in an envelope for long trips to see his friends.  I'll let you get the book to hear the end of the story.

Yesterday, Flat Stanley visited one of my Stamp Club!  He came with Linda Doggins who has been entrusted with Flat Stanley by a  friend of hers, Evan, who is eight.  Linda lives in Yorktown and  is taking Flat Stanley with her wherever she goes so that she and Even can write about his travels (what great motivation to learn to read and write!).  Here is a picture of Linda with Flat Stanley.

While Flat Stanley was in Norfolk, he met Stella Stamper!  She was new, in fact, she was 'pieced together' during the Stamp Club meeting.  Linda took Stella home to live with her and to travel with Flat Stanley.  Here is a picture of Stella Stamper.  DSC_0039 And, both Stella Stamper and Flat Stanley got to attend their first very birthday party.  Agnes, a long time stamper who is also from Yorktown, was celebrating her birthday.  You just never know what might happen when you come to stamp club ~ besides lots of fun stamping!!!  Here's Agnes and her birthday cake ~ what a fun stamp club get-together!!!
